U-Idol Singing Competition
The University Idol Singing Competition is an annual Ontario-wide university and college student singing award competition, publicly recognized as University Idol or U-Idol (『大學大專偶像歌唱大賽』). The event is initially lounged in 2003. With the philosophy and mission to search for talents and to provide young adults with the opportunity and a platform to exhibit their inner talents while learning and discovering their inner abilities through a series of intensive trainings, preparation practices, and style make-over sponsored by U-Idol’s group of supportive sponsors.
With over five years of history, U-Idol is planned and managed by a group of experienced undergraduates along with the support of professionals. These professionals are experts within its field of business whom are contributing their own valuable time to elevate and ensure high standards of this show presentation. In U-Idol 2007-2008 series, we have recruited the help of some famous local artist/musician as vocal trainers; Vybe Dance Co. to choreograph a dance and guest perform; AM1430/FM88.9 anchors to emcee our show; TorontoTV.net to provide video record services and broadcast our show, Phoenix Blue Casting to create a voting system, Initium Hair as our hair design team, Rachel’s Modeling School to provide catwalk trainings, La Veer Image as image consultancy & makeup, Alice Ko Original Design to provide traditional garments, as well as Mary Kay Cosmetics as our make-up team. We are proud to have their assistance in making our show glamorous and original.
As a team of university students who concerns about our community and the well beings of others, thus each year’s production we are devoted to have a fund raising portion in attempt to promote social awareness and responsibilities. From the previous years, the productions have worked with the Mon Sheong Foundation to fund raise for its senior as well as youth programs. For the past two years, the production has helped the Canadian Red Cross to promote their campaigns to fund raise. Last year, we are proud that the production has risen sufficient funding for Campaign Against Malaria (Malariabites.net) to purchase 170 pesticide treated bed nets at $7CND each for children in Africa to prevent Malaria. This shows that we have the awareness, sensitivity, and commitment to serve those who need our assistance.

Uidol 2009 Semifinal held on Jan 10, 2009 at First Markham Place was another great success. Thank you to all of you who came to support our wonderful and talented 14 contestants. Your cheers and support were the drivinforce for our contestants on the day and in this production. On behalf of SCCC and Uidol Project Productions, we thank you for your participation on the day.
To those contestants who have not made it to the final, please don’t feel discouraged, as in our minds, you’re always the very best. We sincerely thank you for your participation and your interest in Uidol singing contest. Please never give up on what you want and like, use this experience to reflect and improve. Lastly, we would like to wish you best of luck in the future. Hope to see you next year at our Uidol 2010 audition. Good luck to all you in your new semester. Our U-Idol audition held on Dec 7, 2007 at TAKE ONE STUDIOS was a great success. Thank you to everyone for their great interest in U-Idol.
